Noctilucent roughly translates to night shining in Latin. It was chosen as a name for the company because the work that created the software was done after hours. We work in an industry where everything is about billable hours. How long it takes to get the job done. This clashes with my background in continuous improvement. I want to be more efficient, more consistent in my code.

Over time, I wrote tools to help me with this. I worked with some others who also wanted a more consistent way of accessing M3 information. Many tools came forth over the years as time continued to move along and my experience with M3 grew. My tools were for developers, and I shared them with developers I worked with. The MI tool, the code generation tool, and the report creation tool. In 2016, a co-worker of mine suggested I pull all my various tools into a single product with a user-friendly interface. Noctilucent Desktop was born.

These tools have been used for years by myself and my team. As Infor changes things about M3, the Data Lake, and Multi-Tenant data access, our tools must change.
